A little more about me

I moved up to Bellingham in the fall of 2017 after a long run in the Rockies. After graduating from the University of Colorado-Boulder in 2012 (Leeds School of Business, marketing) I stuck around to continue working as a chef at one of the premier Italian restaurants in the country. I’m incredibly passionate about food and cooking, so much so that it has fueled some of my many world travels.

Upon my move to Denver, I knew I wanted to continue in food service, but in a different capacity. I was able to catch on with a couple food truck runners and quickly felt at home. I operated two trucks, spring through summer, in Denver for several years. In those falls and winters when we shut the trucks down, I started my professional journey into marketing. I worked at a small user research firm that focused on the quantitative analysis of usability studies. I recruited, facilitated and collected data from these studies to determine the usability of enterprise softwares, websites and applications. We did this for Fortune 500 companies like Google, PayPal and eBay.

In the spring of 2016, I decided to pivot my career into the tech industry. I worked at two rapidly growing startups based in Denver. The first was a vacation rental booking and management platform where I managed the customer experience for travelers and homeowners alike. Seeking something a bit more technical, and a bit more marketing related, I joined another startup in the travel & tourism space. There, I designed websites that integrated a booking platform so clients could generate more online sales. It was here that I really saw the value in improving the online presence of a small business.

Towards the end of the summer in 2017, my then girlfriend and I made the move up to Bellingham to be closer to her family. We married soon after and I spent the next year working as a freelance marketer and content creator- taking what I learned from my time working in UX and building websites in Denver, plus a burgeoning passion for photography (yea, I traveled a lot). I noticed I found myself kickin’ around a local gear shop and realized I had some marketing skills they could benefit from. I’ve been working as their Marketing Manager over the last five years.

Bellingham is now very much home. We’ve got a house, a small kiddo and two wild doggos. In my free time, I love to recreate in the Cascades, cook Thai food, play baseball, plant veggies in my garden, travel to far away lands and drink all the local brews.
